A House in the Hills

Located just 40 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita is an interesting mix of a town.  Famous for it's surfing and Bohemian vibes, it is home to both expats (from Europe, US & Canada) and local Mexican families that have lived here for generations.  You essentially have two choices when it comes to lodging here - you can either choose to stay in town, close to the beach and nightlife, or in a private home in the surrounding hills.  Regardless of where you stay, you will fall in love with Sayulita - everyone does.  There is a something special here.

I always believe that you want to find a place to stay that has the true essence and energy of the destination you are visiting.  Sayulita is all about being in nature, a colorful town with a vibrant community where ultimately everyone is in love with the ocean.

The Spirit of Sayulita

This 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom home fits the definition of Sayulita exactly!  It is of course best to rent this place with a large group given its wonderful open spaces encouraging people to spend time together.  It also has the perfect vacation palette - natural elements, soft neutrals with pops of vibrant fuchsia and orange.  The home just feels happy, which is what a vacation should be.

360° views

This stunning home truly embodies 'outdoor living'.  Built on one of the highest hills in the area, there are amazing 360° views. Consisting of two buildings, both 3-stories high, the top floor serves as the communal space for the living room, dining room and kitchen.  This way you are maximizing the view in the spaces where you spend the most amount of time - how genius is that!

The Pool

Of course, any true vacation rental must have a pool and this was an amazing one!  Completely enveloped in lush green foliage, you can easily spend the whole day here and forget about the nearby ocean.  It is a perfect place to host an afternoon BBQ which we did one day.  With a margaritas in hand, most guests really never got out of here, big surprise!

Personal Time

As is always important when traveling with a large group, it is nice to get a little solo time.  The house had lots of private nooks that you can retreat to - hammocks for swaying, lounge chairs for reading and of course your room for a nap.  Also nice, the bedrooms were on different floors giving each couple lots of privacy.

Dream Folder

Staying in this luxury rental was such a design inspiration for me.  I certainly hope to have a beach home one day and there was so much from this property that I have saved in my dream folder.  I mean a hot tub in the middle of your living room, why not?  Day or night this place was a perfect vacation stay!
