Morocco meets Mexico

Petit Hotel Hafa is one of my most favorite boutique hotels in the world.  A rustic-luxury property (that is probably more rustic than luxury), it perfectly captures the authenticity, charm, and spirit of Sayulita.  Smack in the center of the town, it feels like an oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle.

At First Glance

Picture
Owned and operated by a husband and wife duo, Christopher and Marina, the hotel feels like an extension of their own home (which I can only imagine is fabulous).  There is no lobby per say, just a simple desk on the ground floor where a single receptionist will greet you with a smile and a key.  Throughout the property, you will find little nooks with seating that invite you to take it all in.

Their unofficial/official logo is the heart, which is painted everywhere including a walkway that leads to one of the rooms.  The entire place begs to be photographed and Instagramed, which it has been a plenty!  You will be hard pressed to read any article or blog on Sayulita that fails to mention Petite Hotel Hafa, it is where all the 'it people' stay and hangout.

Sleeping in Color

Picture
Each of the eight rooms is washed in bright white paint from the walls to the furniture.  The one pop of color are the beautiful bedspreads, handmade by local Mexican artisans.  The blankets are sold in the shop downstairs so it's a perfect way to take a bit of Hafa home with you!

Baños

I am a bathroom snob, I can not lie.  Hafa has really simple bathrooms that have been thoughtfully designed.  All made with poured concrete, there is a lot of beauty in their simplicity.  They also function well given you will be washing off sand multiple times a day.  Some of the bathrooms have a thatched palapa roof so you almost get the sense of an outdoor shower, which is super cool.

Rooftop Lounging

Picture
By far the absolute best thing about this property is its rooftop.  The large seating banquet is filled with colorful pillows and guests are invited to partake in tequila (compliments of the hosts). Get a cheese plate going, and you will be socializing with all your new friends into the wee hours of the morning.

All the Details

Both owners hail from Europe (France and Mallorca) and are passionate travelers who have lived all over the world.  Hotel Hafa is a Mediterranean home that infuses the brightness of Mexico with the beautiful details of Morocco.  It will have you feeling bright and happy every day, the perfect feel-good vibes!
