Palermo Dining Guide, Part Two

When it comes to dining, Buenos Aires has it all - from fine dining to hole in the walls and the quality of the food (not to mention the meat) is excellent!  Of course, like any city, it is impossible to go to them all but I was seriously impressed with each and every one of the restaurants I was able to make it to.  My main focus was in the Palermo neighborhood as this is where I was staying and also the area that most of the best restaurants are located.   As a continuation to my previous Palermo Dining Guide Post, here are the remaining 5 places of my Top Ten list...

Brasero Atlantico

Brasero Atlantco is an extension of Floreria Atlantico, the speak-easy next door that is one of the top bars in Buenos Aires.  I loved the small but open space where everything is cooked in a wood-fire oven.  They served the best steak I had during my entire trip, which is pretty impressive given how much I had tried!  Portions are generous, bring a friend.

Chori

An adorable fast-food spot that looks more like a NYC taxi cab than a restaurant.  They specialize in choripán sandwiches which consist of chorizo sausage, delicious freshly baked bread, and chimichurri sauce.  Though the menu is not wildly diverse, there are many types of chorizo to choose from and each sandwich has its own combination of toppings giving it far more unique flavor than choripáns you will find elsewhere.  It is kind of like the In-n-Out of Buenos Aires...simple high quality food that makes for a perfect meal when looking for something low key.

Coco Café

There were many times during my stay in Buenos Aires that I would forget which city I was in.  Some moments felt like Paris, some moments felt like Madrid but the entire city has a wonderfully familiar European feel.  Coco Café is the epitome of Parisian dining with their outdoor cafe seating and glorious quiches.  This is a perfect spot for brunch or a casual lunch.

Mishinguene

Mishinguene, which means 'crazy' in Yiddish, is an upscale Jewish eatery located in the affluent Palermo Chico neighborhood.  The chef aspires to do a modern take on traditional Israeli and Middle Eastern dishes.  They also have great cocktails which perfectly compliment the menu.

As good as the food was, the decor of the restaurant is really what had me drooling.  It is a beautifully designed space that feels warm and chic, encouraging of long dinners with friends and family.  Though unplanned, I happened to dine here on the first night of Hanukkah - a little serendipity is always fun!

The Cream Lab

Before jetting off to Argentina, I was told that the ice cream in Buenos Aires is supposed to be some of the best in the world.  Great cows = great milk = great ice cream.  Totally makes sense, right?  I was beyond excited as ice cream is easily my favorite dessert.  Once in BA, I diligently tasted the goods at all of the best known places and was sadly disappointed.

Until I made my way to The Cream Lab (TCL), which made up for all the rest.  In a beautiful white space, home to multiple Kitchen Aid mixers, the staff combine fresh ingredients with liquid nitrogen to create the most perfect scoop you will ever have.  The early grey with coco nibs is worth missing your flight for (which I almost did, oops)!
